Library now cleared out
by UnshackleTheChains inwell, it looks like the axe has finally fallen on our kh library.
during a deep clean of the local kh, a brother suddenly informed everyone 'whikst cleaning' that all the old books including bound volumes of the watchtower etc was to be chucked in the skip.. from what i heard, some were taken aback by this and quite annoyed that no announcement was made; that no one was given the choice of taking some of these books home to keep.
i mean the entire collection of studies in the scriptures and others that go back an entire century.

those bloody phones
by zeb infrom the avast company.. on september 8th, residents of hamburg, germany woke up to an unusual sight.
scores of kids were taking to the streets with signs, chanting lines such as “we are here, we are loud because you are just looking at your mobile phones.” and “play with us, not your cell phones!”.
seven-year-old emil rustige pulled the mini-protest together to vent his frustration at his parents for spending more time on their phones than with him.

I love the internet
A world of information at the click of a button and I'm sure without social media and forums I would feel very isolated and lonely.
I see young mums pushing buggies looking at their phones not interacting with their child at all . The child has their own screen to watch.
I don't think screen time will lessen as time goes on. I think it will increase and to keep our hands free but still stay connected I think the next stage will be headsets, glasses or spoken commands, maybe even eye movement to open new pages and websites.
I definitely do not see a reduction in what we do online or time spent doing it.

Hidden history of the Watchtower religion
by TerryWalstrom inthe deeper you dig--the less impressive jw’s become!___________________you may think you know the men who are vitally important to the birth of the religion--but chances are good you’ve been kept in the dark.. _____________.
did you know?the 1st case heard by the supreme court of the united states concerning the watchtower society involved a director (an officer) of the watchtower, william franklyn hudgings.. a brief description of hudgings and his character.hudgings was an attorney, quack doctor, self-identified ‘scientist’, a pro-zionist, and religious enthusiast who over the years held various director and officer positions in the watchtower society, and the affiliated people's pulpit association and international bible students association.
at the time of this particular case, william hudgings acknowledged being the corporate secretary of the people's pulpit association and acknowledged that his daily duties included the administrative charge of printing of the watchtower magazine, the bible student's monthly, the kingdom news, and other watchtower publications.. (hudgings was also re-elected to the watchtower society board of directors in january 1919.

April 2019 Watchtower article 'Uphold the TRUTH about death'
by Listener init appears this study article has been written because the organization is still having trouble teaching african jws that they are not to follow their traditional customs when someone dies and not to believe in spirits.it has been speculated for some time that it is african jws that have attributed to the increase in 'anointed' partakers.interestingly, no-where in this article does it even mention their two class system and the anointed having a heavenly hope.
it is amazing that they title the article as upholding the truth about death and fail to mention their two hope doctrine.the following are some quotes -.
satan, “the father of the lie,” has deceived people since the start of human history.

The Africans in our congregation in Spain were allowed to keep a lot of their beliefs and prejudices especially those against women. Wives were completely in subjection to their husbands and could barely speak unless what they wanted to say was pre approved by hubby.
Our book servant was from Nigeria and he wouldn't distribute literature to single sisters we had to get a married sister or brother to ask for what we wanted. That annoyed me but when I asked an elder to ask him to let me get my own literature I was asked to do it his way.
Studies with the African refugees was done with the society's children's colouring books. There was one or 2 lines per page and even tho we tried to teach them God's name was Jehovah they never grasped God and Jesus weren't the same and we were advised to just let them call God Jesus.
It was always a pleasant study (it rarely rains or is cold in Fuerteventura) as we were banned by the Red Cross housing where they stayed so we did it under trees in the local park. (No appointment necessary) A very easy few hours because often as one study finished someone else would come in to the park to ask if we could "study" with them too.

UK migrant "crisis"
by The Fall Guy inhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46725343.
"writing on twitter on sunday, labour leader jeremy corbyn said: "we have a duty to reach out the hand of humanity, support and friendship to people who are in danger and seeking a place of safety.".
yes jeremy, i know exactly what you mean: i was in france on holiday a few years ago, and the lack of humanity & friendship from those frenchies really made me feel that i was in danger.

Where I live there are very few doctors, nurses, dentists or veterinary surgeons who have English as their first language.
I remember 40 years ago when you could get a same day appointment for your GP or vet and i wasnt aware of any non English ones but now a non urgent appointment for doctor, dentist or vet is 3 weeks or longer and it is never someone with English as their first language.
I don't know if Brits qualify and leave or we just aren't training enough but without immigrants UK health services would collapse

Interesting days text today
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara insunday, december 30. asa’s heart was complete with jehovah all his life.—1 ki.
15:14.. each of us can examine his heart to see if it is fully devoted to god.
ask yourself, ‘am i determined to please jehovah, to defend true worship, and to protect his people from any corrupting influence?’ for example, what if someone close to you has to be disfellowshipped?

It was the days text that got me seriously thinking.
It was the scripture about expectation postponed making the heart sick and I thought how sick I was of waiting for Armageddon.
It reminded me of when I was being recruited. They had told me my then toddler was unlikely to start school the end was so close and yet here she was, an adult and bringing her own 8 year-old daughter for a holiday with me in Spain!

The JWs bang on about how there will be no natural affection in the last days but I think they exclude themselves from that "sign".
How they can hear someone recently lost a parent and their immediate response isn't "sorry for your loss" or some other words of comfort beggars belief.
